Short answer
British Gas published Export Premium at 12p/kWh for systems up to 15kW on 27 August 2026, available when British Gas also supplies your electricity. Its standalone Export SEG rate is 3p/kWh. Both are variable, so check the supplier page before applying.

British Gas describes both as variable tariffs with no exit fee or fixed end date. A variable rate can change, so the date above matters.
Why older pages show 15.1p
British Gas has more than one page mentioning solar export. Its dedicated SEG page was updated on 27 August 2026 and displays 12p for Export Premium. An older smart-tariffs page still references “up to 15.1p/kWh”. For a current comparison, the dated product page is the stronger source; UKSolars does not blend the two figures.
How to decide
If British Gas already supplies your electricity, compare Export Premium with your present export rate. If switching import supply would be required, compare the whole annual bill: annual import cost, standing charge and export income. The export rate alone cannot tell you which supplier is cheaper overall.
